Tour Details
The tour meets at the Sintra town hall found in the foothills of the mountains which give its name.
Then we'll set off, exploring the town declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site—and while we explore the streets we'll learn about its history, from its birth as a hamlet in the forest to the modern-day.
We'll visit the National Palace, built in the 16th Century, and considered an example of 'organic architecture'. As we go through Sintra we will learn about the legends that surround this city of pastel shades. In addition, we will discover its most typical gastronomy: the queijadas of Sintra and the wine of Colares.
Next up, our tour continues to the 18th century Seteais Palace. Curious about how it became a luxurious hotel? We'll admire the exterior of this romantic building, where we'll learn why it's one of the most important places in Sintra and what stories its beautiful facades hide.
Finally, we'll end this free tour after a 2.5-hour walk next to the Seteais Palace.
