At the designated time, we'll meet at the Praça da República, 32, to begin our walking tour of Sintra and the Quinta da Regaleira. This city looks like it's from a fairy tale!
First, we'll embark on our guided walking tour of Sintra, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll admire the city's stunning Romantic architecture, such as the Palace of Sintra, the best-preserved medieval royal residence in Portugal. We'll also marvel at the facade of the Castle of the Moors, a hilltop medieval castle, and see the Igreja de São Martinho.
As we stroll along the Quinta do Relogio, you'll learn all about the city's history. We'll reach the famous Casa Piriquita store, where you'll find out about the region's cuisine.
Afterward, we'll climb up to the Quinta da Regaleira, which receives thousands of visitors yearly. This 20th-century monument was commissioned by Augusto Carvalho Monteiro and is a valuable gem in Portugal's historic heritage.
Here, we'll embark on a guided tour through spectacular gardens, lakes, and fountains. Did you know it's also a UNESCO-declared World Heritage Site? We'll explore its mysterious tunnels and winding trails until we reach the Initiation Wells, one of the highlights of this complex, also called the Inverted Towers.
