Sousel Guided Tour
Tour Highlights
Gathering at the designated time near the Tourist Office and Cristos Museum, our guided tour of Sousel kicks off, unravelling the highlights of this Alentejo village.
Just a short stroll from the starting point lies the Convent of Santo Antonio, a 17th-century monument of interest that reflects the distinctive Alentejo architecture with its blue and white facade. Home to an iconic altar of the time, this convent sets the stage for our exploration.
We'll then pass by the fifteenth-century church of Our Lady of Orada and the baroque-style church of Our Lady of Grace, built between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries.
Then, we'll pause to admire the neoclassical altar within the church of La Misericordia. This unique temple is connected to a hospital decorated with tiles, and we'll uncover the intriguing reason behind their shared architecture. Our journey continues to the scenic Mount of St. Michael, offering a panoramic view of the surroundings.
Culminating our tour, we'll visit the Town Hall Square, nestled in the heart of Sousel. Finally, we'll return to the starting point, concluding our exploration.
