St Petersburg to Moscow 11 Day Cruise

Day 1: St. Petersburg

The cruise ship will be waiting for you at the river port of St. Petersburg, equipped with everything you need to be comfortable during the trip. In the evening, we'll enjoy dinner in the ship's restaurant.

Day 2: St. Petersburg

The next day in St. Petersburg we'll have breakfast and take a panoramic tour of the city of the Tsars, passing the Smolny Convent and the Tavrichesky Palace before arriving at the Winter Palace. Inside is the Hermitage Museum, one of the most important museums in the world.

We'll enter the most important rooms, such as the Egyptian room, the hall of Peter the Great, the corridor of St. George and the collections of Italian, Dutch and Spanish paintings.

Afterwards, we'll have lunch in a local restaurant and continue our tour of St. Petersburg. We'll see symbolic locations such as St. Isaac's Cathedral and the Church of the Spilled Blood, and we'll stop at St. Peter and Paul Fortress for a guided tour of the grounds.

We'll then return to the ship and you'll have the rest of the afternoon free to join one of the optional activities and relax.

Day 3: St. Petersburg

On the last day in St. Petersburg, you'll have the whole morning to participate in the optional activities of your choice. You can visit Pushkin, where Catherine's Palace is located, or stroll through Peterhof and its wonderful gardens.

At noon we'll have lunch on the ship and depart for our first destination, Mandrogui. In the evening, you are invited to the Captain's welcome cocktail before dinner.

Day 4: Mandrogui

We'll arrive in Mandrogui to discover a more traditional Russia. After breakfast, we'll disembark and visit the wooden houses of this typical village, where we'll see samples of local handicrafts, as well as pancake and cake shops. If you're interested, you can also visit the Vodka Museum.

Before returning to the ship, we'll enjoy a delicious traditional barbecue, called shashlik. Afterwards, we'll say goodbye to Mandrogui and set sail for the next destination. You'll have the afternoon free to have fun with the cruise activities. Russian language classes, documentaries about the history of the country... No time to get bored!

Day 5: Kizhi

Once the ship has landed, we'll have breakfast and go to the island of Kizhi, located in Lake Onega. The whole island has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as it is a real open-air museum. We'll be able to see its wooden constructions, among which the spectacular church of the Transfiguration and its 22 domes stand out.

You'll also be amazed by the beautiful Cathedral of the Intercession and stroll through traditional wooden houses. After the visit, we'l return to the ship for lunch and you'll have the afternoon at leisure. Painting matryoshkas? Tasting vodka and blinis? You can enjoy any of these typically Russian experiences.

Day 6: Goritsy

Are you ready to learn more about Russia? Before we do, we'll give you an introductory talk about what we're going to see on day 6, as well as tell you some of the more enigmatic local legends. 

After lunch, it will be time to visit the Goritsy Monastery and its Museum of Icons. Along the way, we'll discover interesting details about the Orthodox religion, before returning to the ship to enjoy a Russian tea ceremony. The rest of the afternoon is free for rest.

Day 7: Yaroslavl

This day will be spent in Yaroslavl, the jewel of the Russian Golden Ring. After breakfast, we'll get to know some details about this town whose historic centre was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The rest of the morning you can take a Russian dance class or a napkin folding workshop. 

In the afternoon, we'll have lunch and a bus will pick us up from the boat to take us on a panoramic tour of Yaroslav. We'll admire the church of the Prophet Elijah and stop to see the interior of the church of St. Nicholas Rúbleny.

In addition, we'll visit a local market, where you'll have time for shopping and take a tour of an art gallery located in the former residence of the Governor of Yaroslavl. After the visit, we'll return to the ship, to get ready for the pirate night with a party and games. 

Day 8: Uglich

The morning of the eighth day will be spent exploring Uglich and its beautiful architectural ensembles. We'll take a walking tour of the city discovering its wonders: the Kremlin, the Transfiguration Cathedral and the Church of St. Demetrius in the Blood. After the visit, we'll return to the cruise ship for lunch.

While the ship sails to the final destination of the trip, you'll have a very full afternoon: first, rehearsal for the talent show that will take place at the end of the evening! Then, the farewell cocktail party and, to finish, the Captain's dinner. It's a fancy event, so dress up!

Day 9: Moscow

After breakfast, we'll have a talk about Moscow as the ship heads for the Russian capital. Upon docking in port, we will have lunch and board a bus for a panoramic tour of Moscow. We'll see the most representative sights, such as the Novodevichy Convent, the KGB headquarters, Red Square, the GUM shopping centre and the Saviour's Cathedral.

Afterwards, those who wish can stay in Moscow to continue enjoying the city with optional activities such as a visit to the Tretyakov Gallery or the Moscow Metro, and at the end of the tour, we'll take you back to the ship. Those who prefer to rest can return to the cruise ship.

Day 10: Moscow

On the second day in Moscow, after breakfast, we'll set off for a guided tour of the Kremlin. We'll see the Congress Palace, the Senate Square, the residence of the President of the Russian Federation, the Tsar Bell and Tsar Cannon, and the Cathedrals of the Assumption, Archangel and Annunciation.

The rest of the day is at leisure for rest, optional excursions such as a visit to the Armoury or Sergiev Posad, or a concert or folklore show. Nothing better to say goodbye to Moscow!

Day 11: Moscow

After breakfast, it's time to pack your bags because the good times are over. Your driver will be waiting for you at the cruise departure to take you to your hotel or to Moscow airport in time for your flight. 

Accommodation

The cruise includes a 10-night stay on board a 4-star cruise ship. The prices quoted are per person staying in a double cabin. 

When booking you can choose whether you prefer to sleep in a standard or deluxe cabin. Standard rooms are 2.2 x 4.7 metres in size, while deluxe rooms are 3.3 x 4 metres. All rooms are exterior facing and have a private bathroom with shower, air conditioning, refrigerator, hairdryer and power sockets.

Within the deluxe option, you can choose between a cabin on the main or middle deck. You can consult the distribution of the cabins and the general characteristics of the ships in the following section.

What are the cruises like?

MS N.NOVGOROD 4*

The MS Nizhny Novgorod has been refurbished in 2019. It has four decks, panoramic views, restaurants serving continental and Russian cuisine, two bars, music room, dance floor, sauna, solarium and laundry.

In 2022, the cruise will take place on the MS Fedin 4*. Its facilities are the same as those of the MS Chernyshevsky 4* in the previous section.
