We had a fantastic day with Antonio (again) exploring Zacatecas state. We first visited the mind-blowing ruins of La Quemada, full of amazing structures sprawling up a mountain. We then went to Malpaso and had THE BEST chorizo sandwiches we've ever tasted. Then to the pueblo mágico of Jerez where we bought some typical silver earrings that they are known for, and had some delicious nieves as a snack. We returned to Zacatecas City, had some dinner, then saw a few more sites like the cathedral
Had an amazing tour with Antonio, who speaks excellent English. First stop at El Edén mine was really interesting, though slightly terrifying for my wife because of the grates you walk over (they are very safe). Next we took the teleférico up to La Bufa, great views, and we were permitted special access to the meteorological observatory once Antonio informed them that I work in Physics. We then drove around the callejones of Centro Histórico which was very beautiful and interesting.
Great introduction to the delights of Zacatecas. We especially appreciated the detour to see the acueducto. Thanks to all!
