Tainan Private Tour
Tour Details
Would you like to learn about the history of Taiwan’s oldest city? To begin this private tour of Tainan, we’ll meet at number 2 of Nanmen. Once we’re ready, we’ll visit the Confucius Temple, the island’s first school, founded in 1665. Let’s start our journey back in time!
For one hour, we’ll walk through its solemn courtyards and traditional red rooftops. There, we’ll uncover the teachings on loyalty and integrity that shaped local thought. Did you know that imperial examinations were held here and could forever change a family’s destiny?
Afterwards, we’ll continue through the narrow streets of Tainan and follow the traces of the sons of the sea dragon king, which will lead us to Chihkan Tower.
For nearly one hour, we’ll visit this site, also known as Fort Provintia. Its walls, built by the Dutch in the 17th century, reveal chapters of conquests, alliances, and cultural tensions. This stronghold was a direct witness to the clash between empires for control of the Pacific.
Finally, we’ll head to the Grand Mazu Temple. We’ll admire its undulating roofs, filled with mythological figures that open the doors to Taoist devotion. We’ll learn about the deities who guide sailors, merchants, and even some lonely hearts. Did you know many locals come here to seek clarity before making life-changing decisions?
We’ll say our goodbyes in front of this last temple after a total of 2.5 hours of touring.
