Carcassonne Day Trip
Carcassonne Day Trip
At the designated time, we'll meet at Allée Jean Jaurès, number 29 in Toulouse, and board a comfortable bus to set off to the citadel of Carcassonne, which is located just 1 hour away.
Once we arrive at this picturesque medieval town, we'll take you to Porte Narbonaise, where you'll have 6 hours of free time to enjoy both the cuisine and the beautiful old town at your leisure. We'll also give you a brochure in English, and you can also download a free audio guide in English to your mobile phone.
You're bound to be surprised by the gigantic walls around Carcassonne, which span mi (3 km) and have 52 towers designed to protect the legendary secrets of the Cathars. In the intramural area, you'll find the Castle of Carcassonne, one of the most historic fortresses in the French region of Occitanie.
It's also worth taking a walk through the old town to visit outstanding monuments, including the Basilica of Sainte-Nazaire, with its Romanesque and Gothic elements.
If you want, you can also visit the area outside the walls, where you'll see the old medieval entrances, such as the Porte Narbonnaise and the Porte de l'Aude.
Finally, we'll conclude this 8-hour activity by returning to the starting point in Toulouse by bus.
