Medieval buildings, half-timbered houses, and beautiful corners take center stage on this free walking tour of Tours, one of the most beautiful cities in the Loire Valley.

Tour Details

At the designated time, we'll begin our free walking tour of the city of Tours from the Hôtel de Ville, the City Hall of Tours.

This emblematic building is a monumental jewel of the end of the 19th century, designed by the renowned architect Victor Laloux. After admiring the building's elegant exterior, we'll head to the Basilica of Saint Martin to see the basilica from outside, where the remains of the city's patron saint lie to rest. We'll also see the iconic Tour Charlemagne

Our next stop will be at the Place Plumereau, without a doubt the prettiest square in Tours. This place is especially popular due to its beautiful 15th-century half-timbered houses and the lively ambience of its restaurants and cafés with terraces.

We'll continue our tour at the Maison de Tristan l'Hermite, an architectural jewel, and the hidden church of King Louis XI. Then, we'll head to the Hôtel Gouin, a Renaissance palace that houses the Archaeological Museum of Tours.

This building contrasts with the Musée du Compagnonnage, the Centre de Création Contemporaine, and the Saint-Julien Abbey, which is found right next door. Afterward, we'll pass by the Palais du Commerce and the house of the craftsman who forged Joan of Arc's armor.

Lastly, after 2 hours, we'll finish our free walking tour at the Wilson Bridge, which offers magnificent views of the Loire.
