Tomato Plantation Tour
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at Piazza Corsano to begin this unique experience in Tramonti, getting to know all the iconic flavours associated with the Amalfi Coast. Have you ever heard of the tomato Re Fiascone?
We'll venture into the fields where this product has been recovered, cultivated, and protected, thanks to the efforts of the Acarbio Association, dedicated to rediscovering and preserving the environmental heritage of the Amalfi Coast.
We'll begin the visit by telling you about the history of Re Fiascone and revealing some fun facts about the project. Did you know that this tomato, common in the region until the 19th century, was lost as other varieties were introduced? Recently, thanks to the collaboration between various farmers, its complete disappearance has been avoided.
After learning about the characteristics of this seed and the tomato plantations, we'll have the chance to take part in a tasting of local products.
Amongst these products, we'll try pagnotto, a bread made with ancient grains, alongside Re Fiascone tomatoes and Garum, a fish-based sauce that was used back in Ancient Rome. All this will be paired with 2 glasses of red Tramonti wine, made with an ancient variety of local grape.
At the end of the tasting, we'll say our goodbyes and conclude our tour after a total of 1.5 hours.
