Kenneth Lee Museum Tour
Kenneth Lee Museum Tour
At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Trinidad and head to the north of the city. Let's explore the Kenneth Lee Ethno-Archaeological Museum!
This institution was named after the archaeologist Kenneth Lee, who dedicated his life to the study of the cultures that inhabited the Moxos plains. The building houses one of the most outstanding examples of Moxos culture in the country.
As soon as we arrive, you'll notice the unique circular structure. This was built from materials that are abundant in the region, such as jatata or cuchi wood. Did you know that it resembles a traditional Moxeño dwelling?
We'll head inside the museum to explore the rich craftsmanship of this pre-Columbian civilization, also known as Moxeño or Mojos. As we explore the different exhibits, we'll take a journey through the Moxos culture's agricultural knowledge, traditions, festivities and music.
In the museum, we'll find models that simulate the Moxos' hydraulic systems, as well as domestic utensils. We'll also see musical instruments, clothing and carved masks of divinities. These will help us to understand the rites and traditions of the Indigenous people who inhabited the Moxos region.
It'll then be time to take you back to your hotel, where we'll arrive 1 hour after pickup.
