Ushuaia Free Walking Tour
Tour Details
Have you reached the "end of the world" and are looking to learn about its history? In this case, we'll meet at the designated time at Plaza Cívica, from where we'll begin this free walking tour of Ushuaia, a charming city known for being the southernmost destination on earth. Let's go!
We'll begin our tour by making our way towards the port of Ushuaia, which features beautiful scenic views of the Beagle Channel, snowy mountains, and the cruise ships that sail along Patagonia. From here, we'll head to the highest part of the city in search of a viewpoint where we'll take in the unparalleled views. Get your camera ready!
Afterward, we'll descend to the Italian quarter, one of the first to be established in Ushuaia. We'll walk among wooden houses and cross the pedestrian bridge that will take us to the Colombo neighborhood.
Then, we'll head to the Plaza del Libro to cross its native forest as we tell you the history of the local pioneers and readers. We'll learn about its meaning and tribute to this urban site dedicated to lovers of letters.
We'll walk toward the Paseo del Centenario, whose stairs offer beautiful views of the bay nestled among the large spikes of the monument. Did you know each one represents the different cultures that coexist in Ushuaia?
Next, we'll pass the Old Cemetery and head to the Bahía Encerrada, where we'll step into its natural reserve. Once we enter, we'll explore its trails, perfect for observing native birds like upland goose, golden plovers, and black-faced ibis.
We'll see neighborhoods like Misión Alta, Naútico, and Aeroclub, where the airport used to be. Our free walking tour will end at the popular sign of the End of the World, where you can take the classic photo. Very close by, you'll find the Plaza Malvinas, where you'll see the cenotaph and the commemorative wall to the fallen during the Falklands War.
Finally, after 2.5 hours, we'll say our goodbyes at this final spot or at the initial meeting point.
