Chichén Itzá Day Trip
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up in front of the Francisco Cantón Rosado Main Park, in the heart of Valladolid. There, we'll board the vehicle that will take us directly to Chichén Itzá, one of the most emblematic archaeological sites in the world. Let's go there!
After about an hour's drive, we'll arrive at this ancient ceremonial center, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. During a 2-hour guided tour, we'll visit the main elements of the Maya civilization and unravel the secrets that surround this sacred place.
We'll stop in front of the imposing Pyramid of Kukulkan, also known as El Castillo. This 30 m high (98 ft) structure not only stands out for its perfect symmetry, but also for its astronomical symbolism. Did you know that at the equinoxes, the sunlight creates the effect of a snake descending the steps? A marvel of precision!
From here, we'll visit the Ball Game, the largest in Mesoamerica, where we'll learn about the role of this sporting ritual in the life and death of the ancient Maya. We'll also explore the Temple of the Warriors, surrounded by a forest of carved columns, and the enigmatic Sacred Cenote, where offerings were made to the gods.
Throughout the tour, we'll talk about the architectural techniques, the Maya worldview and the recent archeological discoveries that continue to surprise experts from all over the world. You're sure to be fascinated!
Finally, we'll return to Valladolid and say goodbye at the starting point after a total of 4 hours of adventure.
