On this guided tour of Viseu, you'll discover the most emblematic sites of this historic Portuguese city, like its Cathedral, its Roman wall, and its beautiful churches.

Tour Details

At the designated time, we'll meet in front of the Viseu Cathedral, one of the best spots in town, and begin exploring its main monuments. Are you ready for this guided tour? Let's go!

We'll admire the details of the Viseu Cathedral, a 12th-century cathedral with two towers and a characteristic vaulted ceiling. To discover this fascinating church, we'll step inside and reveal all its secrets. From here, we'll reach the Grão Vasco Museum in the Paço dos Três Escalões, where we'll find some of the best paintings by Portuguese artists.

After exploring this museum, we'll walk toward the Igreja da Misericordia, a church with a Rococo facade of spectacular beauty. Near the church, we'll find the Casa do Miradouro, the most emblematic monument of 16th-century architecture that you can see in Viseu.

We'll continue our guided tour of Viseu in the Porta do Soar, the former entrance that is part of the city's history. From here, we'll walk to the beautiful Praça Dom Duarte, where we'll stop to admire its architecture and soak in the city's atmosphere.

Then, we'll head to the Rua Direita, a picturesque street filled with shops, restaurants, and cafés, where we'll step inside the Jewish quarter of the city. Here, we'll stop to try a typical cake from Viseu. Delicious!

With this sweet taste, we'll continue exploring this Portuguese city by reaching its City Hall, the Igreja da Ordem Terceira de São Francisco, and the Solar dos Condes de Prime house.

Next, we'll walk along the Roman wall of Viseu and its surroundings until we reach the Jardim de Santo António, where we'll see the Casa do Cruzeiro and the Pórtico do Fontão.

Our last stop will be the Fontelo Park. To wrap up this tour, we'll enter a nearby winery for a tasting of a traditional wine. We'll conclude our 4-hour guided tour of Viseu at this spot.
