Free Walking Tour of Viseu

Description

At the indicated time, we'll start this free tour of Viseu at Teatro Viriato.

First, we'll go to the Praça Dom Duarte. Right next to it is the Church of Misericórdia and the Cathedral of Viseu, a true architectural masterpiece that perfectly combines Romanesque and Gothic styles. The route will then continue in Fontelo Park, one of the main green areas of the town.

We'll continue the tour through the Rua Direita towards the Cava de Viriato, a very special place where we'll learn the story of Viriathus, the hero of ancient Lusitania who dared to challenge the power of the Roman Empire. After learning about his story, we'll continue discovering the local past in the Jardim das Mães.

The next stop will be at the Parque da Cidade, where we'll see the front of the Church of the Third Order of St. Francis. Afterwards, we'll go to two iconic green areas of Viseu: the Aquilino Ribeiro Park and the Jardim da Ribeira.

Finally, after 1.5 hours of sightseeing, we'll conclude the free tour at the starting point.
