Tour Details

At the designated time, we'll meet in front of the Parroquia Nuestro Padre Jesús del Gran Poder, where the Paseo de las Palmeras begins. From here, we'll set off on a walking tour to discover the history of Isla Cristina. Did you know the town emerged following an earthquake? It was founded in 1755!

Strolling along the Paseo de las Palmeras, one of the most iconic spots in the area, we'll discover the Monumento a la Cultura y el Saber. Just a short walk away, we'll reach the charming Paseo del Chocolate, a corner full of local character.

We'll continue through Calle del Carmen and Calle del Prado, making our way to the Isla Cristina Public Library, housed in the former home of Román Pérez.

Our next stop will be Plaza de San Francisco, a traditional meeting place for the higuereteros, where we'll explore the importance of religion in the city, including the deep-rooted cofradía and rocieras traditions that define this corner of the island.

Next, we'll wander down Calle Diego Pérez Pascual to the Plaza de las Flores, a square with a special charm all its own. We'll stop to take in the historic Casa de Gildita and the symbolic Casino La Unión and uncover the stories behind them!

Crossing the Gran Vía, we'll visit the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, which offers fantastic views from its bell tower. Get your cameras ready!

We'll then head to the town hall complex to admire the monument to the Santísima Virgen del Rocío, the bust of Roque Barcia, and the monolith dedicated to Blas Infante, all symbols of Isla Cristina's rich historical and cultural heritage.

We'll wrap up at the Pozo y la Higuera in the Jardines de Andalucía, which is far more than a decorative feature, it represents the very founding origins of La Higuerita. What better place to end on a high note! After 1.5 to 2 hours, we'll bring this free tour to a close.
