Mexico City Free Walking Tour
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral, the most impressive in Latin America, to begin this free tour of Mexico City.
Very close to our meeting point stands the National Palace, a political and artistic emblem that houses Diego Rivera's murals. A few steps away are the remains of the Templo Mayor, the heart of ancient Tenochtitlán and a testament to Mexica greatness.
Afterwards, we'll walk to the Plaza de Santo Domingo, with its colonial portals and its famous tradition of printers and public scribes. There, we'll visit the Temple of Santo Domingo, a jewel of New Spain Baroque architecture, and the House of the Inquisition, now the headquarters of the Secretariat of Public Education.
The next stop will be at the National Art Museum (MUNAL), a magnificent Porfirian building that houses one of the most outstanding collections of 19th and 20th century Mexican art. Next, we'll continue on to the Postal Palace, famous for its gilded interior and majestic marble staircases, and the Casa de los Azulejos, a colonial icon covered in Talavera tiles from Puebla.
Finally, we'll visit the Palace of Fine Arts, a symbol of the city and the stage for the greatest exponents of national culture. Here, we'll say goodbye after a 2.5-hour tour.
