Balmaceda & Serrano Glaciers Boat Trip
Activity Details
The Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers are two of the main attractions of Bernardo O’Higgins National Park, a must for nature lovers visiting Chilean Patagonia. Ready to discover the beauty of the largest national park in Chile? Let’s get started!
We’ll meet at the Maritime Terminal, where we’ll board a boat and begin our journey through the Última Esperanza Fjord. During the cruise, we’ll enjoy breathtaking landscapes, waterfalls, and sightings of local wildlife such as cormorants and sea lions.
Little by little, we’ll enter Bernardo O’Higgins National Park, which covers nearly four million hectares and stretches across the regions of Aysén and Magallanes. It’s also home to the largest ice mass in the Americas.
Thanks to this navigation, we’ll be able to get close to the Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers, which are only accessible by water. To explore them in the best way, we’ll disembark at the Serrano Glacier, where we’ll take a 1.5-hour walk along its marked trail and through native forest to reach the base of this impressive ice formation. It’s a truly fascinating experience.
Back on board, we’ll toast with a whisky served with ice from the glacier itself, a special moment that perfectly rounds off the visit to Serrano Glacier. We’ll then continue sailing and pass by Balmaceda Glacier, the perfect finale to this boat excursion through Bernardo O’Higgins National Park.
Finally, we’ll return to the departure pier in Puerto Natales, where the excursion will end after approximately 6 hours.
