Shanghai Food Tour Details

During the booking process, you can choose between the following options. Both start in front of Dapuqiao SML Center, include an English-speaking guide, and tasting of different traditional dishes.

Taikang & Tianzifang Tour (3 Hours)

Once we're ready, we'll kick off our tour of Shanghai by heading to Taikang, a lively market where we'll taste four dim sum, delicate steamed dough that hide the most surprising flavors. Did you know dim sum means "touch the heart?"

Afterward, we'll set off to Tianzifang, a labyrinth of alleys that preserves the charm of old town Shanghai. Among brick walls and art workshops, you'll learn the secrets of the tea culture and try Chinese desserts made with ancient recipes.

The tour will end on a high note at a restaurant specializing in ramen. Here, you'll witness a demonstration of the technique of stretching noodles. We'll see how the dough becomes thin noodles right before our eyes, and of course, we'll taste freshly made noodles, with the unparalleled flavor of Chinese soups.

Finally, after all this scrumptious food, we'll conclude the tour at the initial meeting point. What an explosion of flavors!

Qibao Tour (3.5 Hours)

In this case, we'll start the tour by setting off to the district of Qibao, an area that looks frozen in time, as it still preserves the character of ancient Shanghai.

We'll stroll along the streets filled with red lanterns and stands with aromas, and we'll try authentic bites of the popular street food cuisine. We'll choose the food based on the season of the ingredients and your preferred tastes.

Then, we'll visit a tea house, where we'll witness the beloved art of the Chinese tea ceremony. You'll discover how the temperature of the water, the type of leave, and the way of serving the tea influences its aroma and flavor. Of course, we'll try the delicious tea!

The highlight of the tour will be when we stop at a restaurant specializing in shengjian, the famous steamed buns of Shanghai. We'll see up close how these buns are filled, rolled, and fried until they are crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. You'll love tasting a hot shengjian and feeling how they melt in your mouth!

After finishing the tour, we'll say our goodbyes at the metro station in Qibao.
