Valley of Stones & Black Lagoon Day Trip
Day Trip Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Uyuni and set off on an off-roading tour of some of the most beautiful spots in the Altiplano lagoons. To begin with, we'll head to the village of San Cristóbal, a small mining town where Bolivian culture and tradition can be felt in every corner.
There, we'll explore the traces of local mining and talk about the customs most deeply rooted in the village. We'll also visit the rebuilt colonial church, one of the great treasures of San Cristóbal. We'll return to the off-roading vehicle and venture into the high plateau landscapes, where we'll be lucky enough to see llamas and vicuñas.
The tour will take us to Villa Alota, where we'll have a picnic lunch on the banks of the Alota River. Feeling refuelled, we'll head to the Valley of Stones, a set of unique geological formations where we'll see countless sculptures created by erosion. As we explore it, you can let your imagination run wild and try to guess the similarities and differences between these rocks and real-life figures.
Next, we'll stop at the Black Lagoon, also known as Laguna Catal. There, we'll get out of the off-roading vehicle to explore this magical corner of the Bolivian Altiplano. You won't be able to stop taking photos! If we're lucky, we'll see flamingos, Andean geese, viscachas, and high-altitude sparrows in their natural habitat.
To finish off this tour, we'll visit the so-called Lost Italy, a group of rock formations that evoke images of architectural ruins in the minds of all who visit them. This stop will undoubtedly enchant photography enthusiasts!
Finally, we'll begin the journey back to your hotel in Uyuni and end this trip after 9 hours in total.
