Colonia Suiza Day Trip
Day Trip Details
After meeting at the designated time at San Martín 398, we'll leave the city of Bariloche behind along the Avenida Exequiel Bustillo, which winds along the Nahuel Huapi Lake. Ready to discover one of the most picturesque towns in the Argentine Patagonia?
We'll reach the Ruta Provincial 77 highway, which borders Argentino Lake, and in approximately 40 minutes, we'll reach Colonia Suiza, a corner that looks stuck in time. This small town was founded at the end of the 19th century by Swiss immigrants who crossed the mountain range from Chile. Here, you'll discover its charm and past while surrounded by the Cerro López and Cerro Goye.
During the tour, you'll walk along its dirt trails, admire the wooden buildings with gable roofs, and visit a craft fair. We'll also stop at traditional craft stalls, shops with regional products, fabrics, ceramics, and homemade delicacies.
One of the most special moments will be seeing the popular curanto being prepared, a recipe that is cooked in a pot underground using hot stones from the lake. We'll witness the “destape” ceremony, an experience filled with culture and flavor. This dish includes pork, beef, potatoes, apples, and pumpkins with cheese, cream, and peas. You won't be able to resist it!
Finally, we'll start our journey back to the meeting point in Bariloche, where we'll say our goodbyes after 5 hours.
