The Great Wall of China is not really a wall, but rather a network of thousands of walls, ramparts, and fortresses built over the course of over a thousand years. The first walls date back to the 7th century BC, an were built upon by various dynasties. The most iconic and best preserved section of the wall however was built by the Ming Dynasty.
