Belo Horizonte Municipal Park + Palace of the Arts Tour
Tour Details
We'll meet at the indicated time at the Municipal Park of Belo Horizonte, specifically at the entrance of Afonso Pena Avenue. There, after a short introduction, we'll enter this natural refuge in the middle of the urban bustle of the capital of Minas Gerais.
Our journey begins as we walk among the trees and, when we least expect it, we'll discover the small lakes that reflect the top of the grove and the sky of Belo Horizonte. We'll get to know its two cultural spaces: the Francisco Nunes Theater, with its prominent architecture, and the Palace of Arts, a work of the renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer that has become an important building in the mining region. The best part? We'll go inside the palace to discover its exhibits and learn about Belo Horizonte's artistic past.
After the visit, we'll take a break to enjoy a coffee and a traditional cheese bread on your own. With renewed energy, we'll head to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Good Journey. We'll enter the temple while we tell you about the ancient church of Arraial do Curral do Rei, which was located in this same place.
We'll continue the tour approaching the old Senate, which today houses the Mining Museum. We'll visit its rooms to learn more about the history of the state of Minas Gerais, one of the richest in Brazil. Afterward, we'll reach the CDL Cultural Point, a space dedicated to the artistic diffusion and strengthening of the Belorizontine identity.
Finally, we'll take a panoramic walk through Praça da Liberdade, one of the most emblematic squares of the city. As we walk through it, we'll admire the Liberdade Palace and the historic buildings that surround it. We'll learn how it was originally the seat of government and was transformed into one of the monumental centers open to the public.
Finally, we'll arrive at the corner of Antonio de Albuquerque and Sergipe streets, where we'll say goodbye after a 5-hour and 40-minute tour.
