San Sebastian & San Juan de Gaztelugatxe Day Trip
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet in front of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and set off on our day trip along the Basque Coast.
We'll set off eastbound towards San Sebastian's bus station. Once we get to this charming city, we'll go on a guided tour that'll last 2.5 hours. During our tour, we'll see the Plaza Mayor and the Plaza de la Constitución on our way to the port. In addition, we'll pass by the famous Bay of La Concha, admire the facade of the Town Hall as well as seeing Gipuzkoa and Okendo Squares.
Then after our guided tour of San Sebastian, we'll leave you about two hours of free time to explore on your own and get something to eat at a local restaurant.
After you've had something to eat, we'll head to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, an islet that can only be reached by one path. This coastal setting and its rugged landscape have become famous in recent years due to Game of Thrones. Does Dragonstone ring any bells? We'll admire spectacular panoramic views of House Targaryen's ancestral home from the cliffs.
Here, we'll go on a guided tour that won't include the ascent to the chapel. If you'd like, you can walk the 1 mile (2 kilometres) up to the chapel on your own or stay in Bar Eneperi.
It'll then be time to return to Bilbao, where we'll say our goodbyes 10 hours after the meeting time.
Changes to the itinerary
During the winter months, the itinerary will be reversed, i.e. we will start the route in San Juan de Gaztelugatxe and then go to San Sebastian.
