History of Bran Castle

The Saxons began the construction of Bran Castle in 1377, and it was to serve as a fortress to protect Transylvania from invaders. Over the last 650 years, the castle has been involved in battles against various forces. It also served as a royal residence, having been used by Queen Marie of Romania!

Why is it called Dracula's Castle?

Bran Castle is often referred to as Dracula's Castle due to its supposed resemblance to Castle Dracula from Bram Stoker's classic Dracula from 1897. However, the real castle is not thought to have served as direct inspiration for the novel
