Bucaramanga Market Free Tour
Tour Details
Welcome to the capital of Santander! At the indicated time, we'll begin this free tour of the Bucaramanga market and its surroundings from the central Parque Centenario.
From there, we'll take a walk to a traditional business that has been run passed down through generations. We'll continue the route by visiting a place where the tradition of hat-making is perfectly preserved. Here, we'll learn about the importance of this accessory in different regions of Colombia, and in Santander in particular.
Next, we'll head to the Plaza del Mercado de Bucaramanga, the city's main market. We'll visit its different stalls, where you can buy local and foreign fruits, fresh vegetables, pineapples from Lebrija, sausages, avocados from San Vicente, special cuts of meat, medicinal herbs, handicrafts, and so much more.
The market also has various food stalls where you can try different typical dishes from Bucaramanga, such as carne oreada (air-dried beef), tamales, broth, and the traditional yellow corn arepa from Santander.
After visiting the market, we'll head back to Parque Centenario. On the way back, we'll stop at a local establishment to enjoy a delicious cheese arepa accompanied by orange juice.
Finally, we'll conclude this 2-hour and 15-minute free tour in front of the Santander Theatre, one of Bucaramanga's main architectural gems.
