Tour Details

We'll meet at the Parque Principal, the hub of local life and the perfect place to kick off this free walking tour of Piedecuesta.

From here, we'll admire the mountains that surround the town: the Mesa de los Santos in the south, La Cantera, and to the west, the slopes where you'll find the village of the Hermanos Eucarísticos. Do you know the connection between Piedecuesta with faith and religious tradition? We'll tell you!

Afterward, without leaving the square, we'll admire the buildings and temples surrounding the square, the typical place for religious celebrations, and where locals meet daily. Here, you'll find two churches, the Parroquia de San Francisco Javier and the Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro

We'll start walking and exploring the historic center of Piedecuesta, discovering how faith and business have intertwined to shape its identity. Along our walk, we'll share stories about the town's evolution, the significance of its temples, and the role tobacco had in the regional economy.

Our next stop will be at the traditional restaurant, where we'll enjoy a delicious empanada from Santander. After this bite, we'll reach the Plaza del Mercado, filled with colors, aromas, and flavors, where fruit, vegetables, meats, cured meats, herbs, and crafts take center stage.

Here, to finish discovering the local cuisine, we'll taste the traditional masato, one of the most typical drinks in Piedecuesta. As you enjoy this delicacy, we'll tell you about Santander's culinary customs and how it's tied to rural life and religious festivities.

We'll continue the tour by reaching the Casona El Tabacal. We'll pass the streets where the chicoteras work, the women who make artisanal tobacco. It's one of the symbols of the local economy and identity!

Finally, we'll reach the Parque Las Hermanas, where we'll conclude this 2.5-hour free walking tour of Piedecuesta.
