At the indicated time, we'll meet at Lance Ferris Wharf. Here, we'll hop onto a boat and head towards the waters of Cape Byron Marine Park. Ready for the adventure?
As we sail, we'll enjoy some spectacular views of the coast as we go in search of the majestic humpback whales that migrate between Ballina and Byron Bay. Did you know that these mammals can travel up to 10,000 kilometres (6,213 miles) on their annual journey? Throughout the tour, we'll share lots of details with you about these giants of the ocean and their amazing journey.
Thanks to our specialised equipment, you'll be able to listen live to the whales' singing through an underwater hydrophone, a magical experience you'll never forget!
Plus, with a bit of luck, you'll also see dolphins, seabirds and other creatures that live in this nature reserve.
After a total of 2 hours on the tour, we'll return to the starting point, where we'll finish this unforgettable whale-watching experience.
Humpback Whale Sightings
Cape Byron is a strategic place for spotting humpback whales. However, animals are unpredictable. Whether or not we see whales, and how many we see will depend on a variety of factors such as the weather at the time and the breeding and calving seasons of the different species.
Between 1 June and 31 October, if you do not see any whales on your first tour, you can enjoy a second tour free of charge.
