This tour will take you across the natural landscapes of Transylvania. Visit the Turda salt mine, the picturesque village of Rimetea and find out about the union of Romania and the Roman Empire in Alba Iulia.
Turda Salina and Alba Iulia Tour
We'll pick you up from your hotels in Cluj at 8:30 am and head to one of the most spectacular natural sites in the Transylvanian region, the Turda salt mine.
After a 40 minute journey, we'll head underground to discover the immense tunnels that make up this salt mine. Impressive walls made of salt extend over 45 square kilometres. We'll visit its most fascinating rooms such as the octagonal Crivac room, the spectacular lake and its island and the Rudolf Mine, so high that it looks like a salt cathedral. At the end of the visit, you'll have some free time to visit the amusement park inside.
Then we'll continue on the tour, discovering the landscape of the Carpathian Mountains as we go. We'll stop in Rimetea, a picturesque village where the charm of rural Romania is preserved.
Our last stop will be in Alba Iulia, the spiritual capital of Romania. We'll see its star-shaped fortress, Alba Carolina, one of the best-preserved fortresses in Europe, before strolling through quiet streets admiring its two beautiful cathedrals, one Romanesque and the other 19th-century, where the first kings of Romania were crowned.
We'll get back to your hotel in Cluj by 6:30 pm.
