Atacama Andes Excursion
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll be at your hotel to pick you up, ready to set off into the mesmerizing Atacama Andes, full of stunning landscapes and vibrant lagoons!
Our Andes excursion blends bus journeys with various on-foot stops to dive into the natural wonders of this region, commencing with the renowned Puquios Chaos. We'll delve into the geological forces that shaped this colossal limestone mountain and reflect on the significant mining activities that once thrived here.
Little by little, we'll gain altitude and arrive at the Santa Rosa lagoon, where we'll try our luck at spotting high Andean fauna. With some luck, we'll be able to spot flamingos, guanacos, and even vicuñas.
We'll discover the Maricunga salt flat near Santa Rosa, nestled at an impressive altitude of 3,756 meters (12,322 feet) above sea level. As a part of Nevado Tres Cruces National Park, this unique location proudly claims to be Chile's southernmost salt flat.
Our final destination for the day will be Laguna Verde, another picturesque salt lake in the Atacama region. The striking color of its waters stands in stark contrast to the snow-capped volcanic cones surrounding the area. We'll also stop at the Laguna Verde hot springs, where small pools are naturally heated by volcanic activity below the surface.
After 13 hours, we'll end the tour, dropping you off at your hotel.
