Valle del Oro + Morro Colorado Snowshoe Tour
Valle del Oro + Morro Colorado Snowshoe Tour
At 8 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Curicó and head to Tierras Bayas, a mountain refuge located at the foot of the Andes Mountains.
In spite of the cold weather in Chile's southern winter, we'll receive a warm welcome at the refuge, where the instructor will tell you what basic safety rules you should follow. After this brief talk, we'll start the snowshoe walk through the Andes.
The first part of this hike, which is of medium difficulty, will take 3 hours. However, we'll make several stops along the way to admire the white landscapes and recharge our batteries with a picnic lunch that includes a sandwich, a cereal bar, a chocolate bar and a typical Chilean food called 'ñaco'.
With the help of trekking poles and snowshoes, we'll continue through the Oro Valley in the direction of Morro Colorado. Once there, we'll stop on this hill to admire the Teno riverbed and the Planchón-Peteora volcanic complex.
We'll take advantage of the break at Morro Colorado to have a picnic snack including nuts, cheese and salami. In addition, if the day is clear, it's possible to see the majestic flight of the Andean condors.
After this break, we'll take another two-and-a-half-hour walk to the refuge. From there we'll take you back to your hotel in Curicó, where you're expected to arrive at 5 pm.
Tour without pickup
If you prefer, you can also opt for the option without pickup. In this case, we'll meet directly at 9:30 am at the Tierras Bayas refuge, located in the Chilean region of Maule.
