Basque Farmhouse & Cider House Visit

At the scheduled time, you'll meet your Spanish-speaking guide at the entrance to the Igartubeiti Farmhouse to get our tour of the Basque Country's traditions started.

To begin, we'll visit this 16th-century farmhouse museum and observe the building's structure and how it recreates a picture of the daily life of its inhabitants.

We'll see equipment such as the cider press, where the cider was made, and the laias, which were used to move the earth around. As we explore the exhibits and the Visitor Centre's multimedia systems, we'll learn more about this territory's deeply rooted traditions.

During the second part of our tour, you'll need to hop into your own vehicle and follow the guide to the Petritegi cider house in the outskirts of San Sebastian. When you get there, you'll notice the contrasts between old and new as you learn about the modern techniques of cider production.

To round off our visit, we'll sample some of the Basque Country's gastronomy with a delicious lunch. We'll start with some chorizo in cider and a cod omelette with salad. You'll then be able to choose between meat or fish for the main course. This will of course all be accompanied by some tasty cider. 

Our meal will be topped off with cheese with quince jelly or walnuts, or some traditional sweet treats such as tejas and cigarrillos from Tolosa. The experience will come to an end after lunch, approximately 2 hours after the start.
