Alcantara Gorge & Taormina Excursion
At the scheduled time on the morning of the tour, we'll meet at the port of Giardini Naxos. From there, we'll hop on a minibus and travel to the Alcantara Gorge Natural Park, about a 20-minute ride.
Once we arrive, we'll set off on a hiking route of approximately two hours. Making our way through this beautiful natural space, you'll be mesmerized by the enormous lava walls, the crystal clear waters of the Alcántara River and the diverse local flora and fauna.
Along the way, your guide will explain the origins of this landscape and its relationship to an eruption at Mount Etna that occurred in prehistoric times. This fascinating natural phenomenon will make you want to know more and more!
On the way back to the minibus, we'll drive to the beautiful city of Taormina. Here, we'll admire important monuments as we walk along the Corso Umberto, the main commercial artery that runs through the historic center of this Sicilian town.
Of course, we'll also stop to admire the facade of the Duomo of Taormina, a cathedral dedicated to St. Nicholas, as well as enjoy views of the beaches, visit the Porta Messina and much more. The charm of the city will have you taking non-stop pictures. After falling in love with the beauty of Taormina, we'll leave you two hours of free time to have lunch on your own and continue exploring.
At the end of the tour, we will return to the starting point, arriving at 3:30 pm.
