Cueva del Esplendor Tour

At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the number 2A Carrera in Jardín for a tour of the Cueva del Esplendor Natural Reserve. Ready?

On board a 4x4 vehicle, we'll cross part of the reserve until we reach the top of the mountains in an approximately 50-minute drive. We'll stop at a trail, where we'll set off on a 0.6-mile (1-kilometer) walk to the Quitasol farm. There we'll have a snack consisting of an arepa, cheese and chocolate. You'll love it!

Then, we'll stroll along a path surrounded by a native forest, where, if we're lucky and the weather conditions allow, we may get to spot some bird species like russet-backed oropendolas, gallitos de roca and tanagaras along the way. Keep an eye on the trees!

Afterwards, we'll arrive at the famous Cueva del Esplendor, a cavern located at 7,545 feet (2,300 meters) above sea level. Heading inside, we'll witness how its cascade of water flows in the middle of the darkness. If you want, you can even take a quick dip in its crystal-clear pool of water!

Finally, we'll say our goodbyes at the point where the tour began, 5 hours after the initial start time.
