Explore a baroque city with 300 years of history on this guided tour of Karlsruhe. You'll enjoy a charming town planned by the architect Friedrich Weinbrenner.
Karlsruhe Walking Tour
At 11 am, we'll meet in front of the Tourist Information Center for a guided tour of Karlsruhe, ready to discover the neoclassical layout of this city founded in 1715.
On a walk through the English landscape garden of Karlsruhe Palace, we'll admire manicured groves, a lake, fountains and an old locomotive. We'll also pass by key local landmarks such as the Convention Center, the Ettlinger Tor shopping center and the Baden State Theater.
Then, we'll continue our walking tour through the Marktplatz, the town's main square. Surrounded by classical buildings, this square is also the site of the famous Karlsruhe Pyramid, which holds the tomb of the city's founder, Charles III William of Baden-Durlach. During the tour, you'll also get to see the town's impressive Protestant church with Corinthian columns, inspired by a Roman temple.
After that, we'll return to Karlsruhe Palace, former residence of the Margrave and the Grand Dukes of Baden, to talk about its history and the curious fan shape of the surrounding streets.
At 12:30 pm, the tour will conclude back at the starting point.
