Shopping Tour of Kyoto
Soak up the essence of Japanese culture with this tour of Kyoto in which you will visit artisan workshops and taste some traditional green tea and sake.
Shopping Tour of Kyoto
Out first stop is at Fushimi Momoyama, one of the most attractive shopping areas in Kyoto. Here you will discover its rich history of green tea production. To learn more about this facet of the city, we will enter a shop dedicated to this famous infusion. Did you know that this local has served tea for more than 300 years?
Our tour continues in an old shop which prepares and sells Kyogashi - traditional sweets that are used in religious festivals and ceremonies. You can buy some of these tasty treats for yourself.
The tour then takes us into a district full of wineries, beer houses, canals, and traditional wooden buildings which belong to the most famous sake production center in the country. In fact, Fushimi means 'hidden water' and this area of Kyoto earned this name from its subterranean wells which have the ideal conditions for making sake.
Our next destination, Miyagawa-cho is one of the least visited geisha neighborhoods in the ancient Japanese capital. To reach it, we will catch one of the local trains. Once there, we will visit a small artisan workshop where you will witness the traditional artistic techniques of Ukiyo-e printing.
Our tour cultural tour finishes at sunset, in the neighborhood of Gion where we recommend you to stay and enjoy a fantastic geisha show.
