Candelaria and Guimar Pymarids Trip
Discover the fascinating history of Tenerife when this fantastic trip to the iconic pyramids of Güimar and the famous Basilica of Candelaria.
Candelaria and Güimar Pymarids Trip
Once we pick you up, we'll head to the town of Güimar, where one of the most enigmatic archaeological sites in the Canary Islands awaits us.
First, we'll visit the famous pyramids of Güimar. The experts still argue over the origins of these magnificent temples. Some consider that it was the indigenous Guanches who built them, others claim that they were erected by the Masons 200 years ago. You'll hear all the different theories on this subject as we explore the archaeological site.
Nearby is the Poisonous Garden: a huge botanical space where you'll find up to 70 different species of the most toxic plants in the world. You'll learn that even the most seemingly harmless flowers could be a serious threat to other living beings.
After visiting the garden, we'll visit the nearby town of Candelaria, where you can visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Candelaria on your own. Inside the temple is the carving of the Patron Saint of the Canary Islands, much venerated by the inhabitants of the archipelago. Next to the main entrance of the church, you'll also see the famous statues of the menceyes, the Guanche kings who ruled the island in the pre-Hispanic period.
From Candelaria, we'll finally return to the hotels in the south of Tenerife.
