Northeast La Palma Hiking Tour Itinerary
Begin your 3-hour hiking tour from the Las Tricias' Church, a picturesque neighborhood in Villa de Garafía. Before setting out, you'll visit the temple to discover its Spanish colonial-style architecture.
Embark on an easy 6-kilometer trail along the northeast of La Palma. Tour a beautifully restored windmill, once used to make “gofio”, which is toasted cornmeal and one of the most typical foods of the Canary Islands. Next, walk to the Buracas Caves, where you’ll find pre-historic petroglyphs carved by the first inhabitants of the island.
Continue the route crossing fields of almond trees and green valleys speckled with dragon trees. Contemplate these magnificent giant looking cactuses in the Barranco de Izcagua and enjoy the views of the Atlantic coast.
Lastly, head to the Puntagorda Market, a charming open-air market packed with stalls selling typical products and handicrafts made in La Palma. From here, you will return to Las Tricias.

- Suitable clothing and trekking shoes are recommended.
- Don’t forget to bring a hat and sunscreen, some food and plenty of water. If you book this activity in winter, wear something warm.
