La Geria Wine Tour

Enjoy a wine tasting experience visiting La Geria, Lanzarote's main wine producing region. Here you can try its famous wines made using the Malvasia grape.

La Geria Wine Tour Itinerary

Having picked you up at your hotel we make our way to La Geria - the area of Lanzarote to the south of the Timanfaya National Park and the Volcano National Park - one of the most important wine growing regions in the Canaries.

On our wine tour of Lanzarote we will visit three La Geria vineyards. Here we will get to know the process by which the wines are produced, as well as the cultivation of the source material: the grapes. Their principal characteristic is the holes made in the ground where the vines are planted giving the area a lunar appearance. These holes are protected too by a half-moon of stones, the characteristic symbol of the region.

The Malvasia grape is the most common one found in La Geria: this raw material providing excellent sweet white wines. We will appreciate this taste with a tasting of two wines, both from the region, and find out why their special characteristics have led to international prizes being given to the wines from this region.

To conclude the tour of the La Geria vineyards, we move to San Bartolomé, the municipality found in the centre of Lanzarote. Here we will visit "The Monument to the Peasant" - inside this work by César Manrique you can find a museum with a variety of farming tools which help us in our understanding of the cultivation of this island in recent decades.

From San Bartolomé we hit the road, returning to the hotels.
