Teguise Day Trip

Enjoy a different Sunday, visiting the César Manrique Foundation cultural centre, and shopping in the popular Teguise market.

Teguise Day Trip Itinerary

Having picked your up at your hotel we hit to road to Tahiche to take a guided tour of the César Manrique Foundation.

César Manrique was a great artist and architect from Lanzarote, who designed a large number of buildings and cultural spaces on the island. In the foundation named after him we will also visit the "Casa del Volcán" (Volcano House) - where, upon a landscape moulded by lava, Manrique created an avant-garde residence with a swimming pool, gardens and dancefloor. The artist lived here for 20 years next to the workshop where he brought to life his works, trying to make them one with nature. These creations meant that in 1978 he was awarded the World Prize for Ecology and Tourism, as well as winning other prestigious awards.

Having completed the visit we make our way to the famous Teguise market, where we will have all morning free to take a look at its stalls full of clothes and accessories, artisanal and local products. The most popular products from Lanzarote are those made with aloe vera, as well as the typical Canarian cheeses and sweet treats.

You can also take advantage of the free morning in Teguise to take a look at its colonial era buildings: on Sundays there are usually a range of public exhibitions of Lanzarote's folk dances which liven the atmosphere of the market. And don't forget to try the Canarian gastronomy in some of the most typical restaurants in the town.

In the afternoon the tour meets again to return to your hotels.
