This underground tour blew my mind. I was expecting to see some ancient structure underneath the ground. Yes, but it had far more to offer that makes it unique from other popular Rome tours. I lucked out having a private tour. Although others cancelled their booking, the company kept the tour going. My tour guide Ricardo was actually a member of the excavation team, a professional historian! It was a very very tangible experience, hardly any distance between you and the ancient life.
I was in a group of eight, not too many for enjoying the tour. And to make it even better, our guide Mircea was passionate about history, ready to expand and share beyond tailoring to our questions. Love the discussions we engaged in. It was a memorable experience and makes me interested in reading more history behind the life in and around the colloseum over the past 2000 years. Thank you!
