Clink Prison Museum
Travel to the Middle Ages in London and discover the ancient prison, The Clink. Dark stories, torture tools and cells full of chilling memories await you inside the museum.
Clink Prison Museum
The haunting sounds of shackles and calls for freedom from the starving inmates can still be heard. Many years have passed since the oldest prison in the United Kingdom closed its doors, but its history is still remembered in the Clink Prison Museum.
This prison was originally built in 1144, along the south bank of the River Thames, as the residence of Henry of Blois, Bishop of Winchester and brother to King Stephen. Debtors, prostitutes, heretics and crooks passed through the doors of the Clink, which served the area of the Liberty of the Clink from 1151 until it was burnt down in 1780.
With your ticket to The Clink Prison, you can freely wander around the building. You'll discover the objects and tools used for torture in the prison.
During your visit, you'll also have the opportunity to have your photo taken in one of the cells or where you would most like.
