Ancient temples, untouched nature and millennia-old traditions await you in Luang Prabang. Immerse yourself in the history, culture and beauty of Laos on this four-day guided tour.

Luang Prabang 4 Day PrivateTour

Day 1

The first day of your tour will begin with your guide meeting you at the airport or from your hotel in Luang Prabang, before taking you to the first part of your experience. Get to know the culture and history of Laos with a comprehensive guided tour of Luang Prabang's most iconic monuments.

You'll visit the World Heritage Site's most emblematic temples, including the ancient Wat Visoun and the breath-taking Wat Xieng Thong monastery. This exquisitely-gilt temple is one of the most beautiful in Laos, and has played an important role in the country's history - did you know its monarchs were crowned here until 1975?

The last stop of the day will be worth the physical exertion. Embrace the rural scenery of the Luang Prabang peninsula and climb the 238 steps up to the top of the sacred Phousi hill. The peak is home to a curious cave temple and offers spectacular views over the city, especially as dusk draws in. Enjoy an unforgettable sunset over the mountainous countryside of Laos, before being dropped off at your hotel to relax, ready for the days ahead.

Day 2

Leaving your hotel after an early start, you'll make your way to Luang Prabang's dock. Climb aboard a boat ready for the next part of your tour: sailing down the Mekong River, which crosses through the whole of Laos - and five other countries! You'll stop at the village of Ban Xang Hai, famous for its production of a popular beverage: rice whiskey, called lao-Lao.

Your Mekong cruise will continue to the sacred Buddhist caves of Pak Ou, two holy sanctuaries carved out of the rocky cliffs overlooking the river, and whose interiors are home to hundreds of tiny statues of Buddha

Returning back to Luang Prabang, you'll take a break along the route to visit a local village known for its traditional paper making factory, where you'll have the opportunity to learn all about this handicraft that the inhabitants have perfected.

At the end of the day, you'll be dropped off at your hotel in the city centre.

Day 3

Day three of your tour will see you immersed in Laotian cultural heritage at the Luang Prabang National Museum, housed in the former Royal Palace. The magnificent architectural complex was built to replace the former palace that was damaged by the Chinese militia in 1887. As well as admiring its beautiful golden façade, you'll head inside the museum to explore the collections and exhibitions dedicated to showcasing the country's history.

Following a cultural morning, you'll spend the afternoon escaping to rural Laos. Visit the Kuang Si falls, which cascade over multiple levels of mossy rocks in the peaceful forests that surround the city. You'll then be taken back to your hotel for the evening.

Day 4

Make the most of the last day of your guided tour, starting first thing in the morning to experience an age-old religious ceremony: the Buddhist monks' alms giving. Each morning, the monks, wrapped in saffron-coloured robes, leave the monasteries and file down the roads of Luang Prabang. Kneeled along the streets waiting for them are local Buddhists who give them offerings of rice and fruit. It is a humbling tradition, and the perfect way to experience an important part of the rich culture of this incredible country.

Having returned to your tour to collect your luggage, you'll be transferred to the airport, ready to catch your flight after an unforgettable four days.
