Discover the magic of Laos on this three-day tour around Luang Prabang. Embrace its culture and history visiting spectacular temples and the royal palace, and enjoy its enchanting mountain scenery.
Luang Prabang 3 Day Tour Itinerary
On the first day of your tour, you'll be picked up from the airport or from your hotel in Luang Prabang, as you prefer. From there, you'll embark on a guided tour of the city, introducing you to its main points of interest. As you bear witness to the incredible cultural, religious and architectural heritage along your route, you'll soon see why Luang Prabang is a designated World Heritage Site.
Catch a glimpse of Laos' rural side as you pass along the banks of the Mekong River. The tropical-forest-covered mountains lining the waterside make for stunning scenery. You'll visit majestic temples including Wat Visoun, the oldest shrine in Luang Prabang, and Wat Xieng Thong, which means "Temple of the Golden City".
Finally, before being dropped off at your hotel for the evening, you'll head up to the peak of Mount Phousi, a sacred hill where you'll not only have the opportunity to explore the cave temple of Wat Tham Phousi, but you'll also enjoy magnificent views over Luang Prabang from the highest point of the city.
Set off first thing in the morning to board a boat ready to cruise down the Mekong River to Ban Xang Hai. The river is one of the most important waterways in Asia, and crosses through the entirety of Laos. On reaching your destination, you'll learn about the rice whisky, or lao-lao, for which this tiny village is known, discovering its production process and its popularity throughout the country.
Continue your boat trip down the Mekong, arriving at the Pak Ou Caves. Filled with hundreds of miniature Buddha sculptures and figurines, these caves are considered sacred to the locals. Your guide will reveal why...
On your return journey to Luang Prabang, you'll make a stop at the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfalls, around 18 miles (30 km) outside of the city. The final visit of your day will be at a fascinating paper factory in a small traditional village, before being dropped off at your hotel for the night.
During the last day of your tour, you'll have time to visit the Royal Palace of Luang Prabang, officially known as Haw Kham. Nowadays a national museum, the complex is the perfect place to get to know the city's history, culture and customs.
At the end of your three day tour, you'll be taken back to the airport or to your hotel in Luang Prabang at the agreed time.
