You can visit the museums in any order you like and on a date of your choice, always keeping their opening and closing times in mind.

Included Museums

The museums included in the pass are the following:

Prado Museum

The Prado Museum is Spain's most important art gallery. It was inaugurated in 1819, making it one of Madrid's oldest art exhibition centres.

Among the main masterpieces of the Prado are true gems of art history such as Las Meninas by Diego Velázquez, The Garden of Earthly Delights by Bosch and The Third of May 1808 by Francisco de Goya, among other emblematic paintings.

Other outstanding painters at the Prado include Rubens, Titian and El Greco. There is no doubt that painting lovers should not miss a visit to this art gallery, one of the most important in the world.

Opening Times

  • The Prado Museum is open from Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm and Sunday and public holidays from 10 am to 7 pm
  • On January 6 and December 24 and 31, the opening hours are from 10 am to 2 pm
  • In all cases, final admission to the museum is 30 minutes before closing time. Clearance from the rooms starts 10 minutes before closing time
  • The museum is closed on January 1, May 1 and December 25

Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum

Located in the Palace of Villahermosa, in the heart of the Paseo del Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum has an extensive collection of paintings ranging from the 13th century to the 20th century. From the Renaissance to Pop Art, numerous genres are represented in this important art gallery.

In chronological order, the main masterpieces in the Thyssen Museum include emblematic 15th and 16th century paintings such as Portrait of Giovanna Tornabuoni by Ghirlandaio, Christ Among the Doctors by Albrecht Dürer and Portrait of Henry VIII by Hans Holbein the Younger.

From the 17th and 18th centuries, the highlights are, respectively, Rubens' Venus and Cupid and Canaletto's Il Canale Grande a San Vio. The museum also houses great gems of 19th-century painting, such as Amazona de frente by Manet and Van Gogh's Les Vessenots en Auvers. As for the main 20th-century works, you cannot leave the Thyssen without seeing Harlequin with a Mirror by Picasso or Woman in Bath by Roy Lichtenstein.

Opening Times

  • Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm
  • On December 24 and 31, it's open until 3 pm
  • Closing days: December 25, January 1 and May 1
  • Clearance from the rooms starts 5 minutes before closing time

Reina Sofía Museum

The Reina Sofía Museum is specialised in 20th-century art, making it one of the main contemporary art galleries in Spain.

Picasso's Guernica is the museum's great masterpiece. This 1937 painting perfectly portrays the suffering endured by the inhabitants of the town of the same name during the Spanish Civil War.

Other must-see paintings in the Reina Sofía are Un mundo by Ángeles Santos, Le moulin à café by Juan Gris and Ángelus arquitectónico de Millet by Salvador Dalí.
