Frida Kahlo House Red Museum Tickets
Activity Details
The Kahlo House Museum, also known as the Red House, is dedicated to exploring the roots of one of Mexico’s most iconic artists: Frida Kahlo. This was the Kahlo family home from 1930, spanning several generations.
With this ticket, you'll take an intimate and insightful journey into the artist's life and the world that shaped her. From the start, you'll be immersed in her story, with images and writings that reveal her childhood and the universe that influenced her.
During your visit, you'll see negatives taken by her father, the photographer Guillermo Kahlo, as well as his paintings gifted to Frida. You can also read letters exchanged between the Kahlo sisters. Aditionally, you'll admire ex-votos painted by the artist, as well as dolls she purchased on a trip to San Francisco.
Through the museum's exhibits, you'll understand Frida's formative years and artistic awakening, as well as aspects of her life shared only with her family: her time as a teacher at the La Esmeralda National School of Painting, Sculpture, and Engraving. In fact, one of the rooms displays works created by her students, known as Los Fridos.
Other highlights of the Casa Roja include everyday objects such as photographs, clothing, jewelry, toys, perfumes, glasses, and decorations. These pieces offer a deeper glimpse into her private life and how her family relationships helped shape her universal legacy.
Beyond her work, this museum reveals Frida as a profound woman, deeply committed to her time and her people.
