Modena Food Tour
Tour Details
We'll begin our food tour of Modena by meeting at the Hotel Principe at the indicated time. Are you ready to delve into the gastronomic heart of Emilia-Romagna?
First, we'll cross the Parco Ducale, a beautiful garden where we'll give a brief introduction to the history of the city. From there, we'll head to the Orto Botanico, a botanical garden where we'll discover the herbs and plants that have shaped Italian cuisine for centuries.
Our first tasting stop will be at a balsamic vinegar workshop. Here, we'll learn about the meticulous process of making and ageing this "black gold" of gastronomy. We'll also enjoy a guided tasting to appreciate the complexity of its flavour.
We'll continue our walk through the city centre, admiring the impressive architecture of the Palazzo Ducale, the Duomo di Modena and the Torre del Gardello. What stories and anecdotes do these places hide? We'll find out!
After working up an appetite, we'll visit a local shop to taste the king of cheeses, Parmigiano Reggiano, and discover how it's made. We'll accompany it with a delicious platter of cold cuts, including traditional Parma ham, and local breads.
In addition, if you book the activity in the morning, we'll make a stop at the lively Mercato Albinelli. Here you can see how the people of Modena do their daily shopping and immerse yourself in the local atmosphere. It's not uncommon for the place to be crowded!
To round off the tour, we'll enjoy a traditional dessert, choosing between Torta Barozzi chocolate cake or tortellini fritti with cherry jam. To say goodbye, we'll toast with a glass of local wine. Cheers!
Finally, after a total of 2 hours, we'll end the tour at the Elio Park bar.
