We'll meet at the entrance to Selvatura Park, a natural sanctuary in the heart of the Monteverde cloud forest. Are you ready to discover the fascinating world of Costa Rica's reptiles and amphibians?

As soon as we begin this tour of the Selvatura Park herpetarium, which will last between half an hour and 45 minutes, we'll see the glass terrariums, custom-designed to provide an ideal view of the specimens. Throughout the rooms, we'll find miniature recreations of jungles, savannahs and riverbanks where the creatures are sheltered as if they were in the wild.

We'll walk among the amphibian display cases, where we'll show you emerald and sapphire-coloured frogs and, right after that, Costa Rica's iconic red-eyed tree frog. We'll admire their crimson eyelids as they sleep and cling to the branches. Meanwhile, we'll tell you how their toxins and colours form a masterful defence code of nature.

A few steps away, we'll find different species of reptiles, among which the Central American Jesus Christ lizard stands out. Did you know that its fleeting agility in the water gave it its biblical nickname? Its green, almost iridescent crest will stand out, highlighting the elegance of this animal. Amazing!

We'll enter the reptile section, where a collection awaits us that will evoke both respect and fascination. There, we'll admire the red and yellow ringed coral snake, the boa, an impressive specimen of bocaracá, a feared velvet snake and the loud rattlesnake. We'll tell you all about their behaviour, while observing their scales, vertical pupils, and forked tongues in full motion.

Thus, between panels and display cases, we'll learn how controlled humidity and carefully calibrated temperature allow the Selvatura Park reptile house to house and study more than 25 different species without compromising their well-being. You'll leave fascinated!
