Vineyard & Winery Tour of Camargue
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at Rue Rhodes, 2, and from this central point in Montpellier, we'll make our way east.
After a 1-hour drive, we'll reach the Camargue, a beautiful wine region in Provence characterised by its grapes grown in sandy areas and salt flats. As we'll see, the uniqueness of these vineyards results in wines of extraordinary quality.
Our first stop will be at a vineyard in the Camargue, which will vary depending on availability. As we stroll amongst its vine plants, we'll find out what types of grapes are cultivated in the area. Additionally, we'll learn how the land's geology influences the vine stocks and what is the best planting seasons based on the Mediterranean climate that prevails in the south of France.
We'll conclude this visit with a delicious picnic in the vineyard. This lunch includes a selection of cheeses, cured meats, and fruit from the Camargue —what a great way to discover the great culinary richness in this region!
After eating, we'll go to a winery in the area of the salt marshes in Aigues-Mortes. Here, we'll witness the entire process of producing different varieties of red, white, and rosé wines from the Camargue.
At the end of our visit, we'll have a tasting of 3 wines from the AOP Sable de Camargue, one of the main designations of origin in Provence. As we try these wines, we'll learn how to distinguish the different varieties based on their colour, aroma, flavours, and nuances on the palate.
After this tasting, we'll begin our journey back to our meeting point in Montpellier, where this tour will come to an end after a total of 5 hours.
