Riding Palermo’s tourist train is the most fun and convenient way to explore the historic center of Sicily’s capital. Aboard 1 of the 7 trains available, all equipped with an audio guide in English, you’ll discover the history of a city where different cultures and architectural styles converge.
The ticket is valid for 1 full day, allowing you to hop on and off as many times as you like. You can get off to visit a monument, explore a market, or enjoy a coffee, and then board the next train at any of the stops. The choice is yours!
Routes and Stops
The full route lasts 1 hour and includes strategic stops at Palermo’s key landmarks:
- Porta Nuova: next to the majestic Royal Palace, also known as the Norman Palace
- Teatro Massimo: the largest opera house in Italy
- Port of Palermo: the gateway to the Tyrrhenian Sea and the port area
n addition to the stops, during the journey you’ll see iconic landmarks from your seat, such as the Palace of Justice, bustling Via Roma, Piazza San Domenico, and the famous Vucciria Market.
The train will also travel along the city’s main avenues, passing Piazza Pretoria, Quattro Canti (Piazza Vigliena), Central Station, the historic Ballarò Market, and the picturesque Porta Sant’Agata Square.

Schedule and Frequency
The service operates everyday of the year from 9 am to 4 pm, with departures approximately every 30 minutes. Please note that the last recommended boarding time to complete the full tour is 3:30 pm.
There’s no need to select a start time, simply present your ticket before boarding the train at Via Vittorio Emanuele 475 or at any of the listed stops.
