Parque Municipal Summit Day Trip
Day Trip Details
How does spending a day at a zoo in Panama’s tropical forest sound? After picking you up from your hotel in Panama City, we’ll head northwest to explore the exotic nature of Ancón. Let the adventure begin!
After a 40-minute drive, we’ll arrive at Parque Municipal Summit, a botanical garden and zoo that has been around since 1923, as one of the region’s leading institutions committed to conservation and environmental education.
Once there, we’ll begin our tour of the botanical garden. There you can see tropical and subtropical plants from all over the world. We’ll walk along trails surrounded by more than 1,500 species of flora, including palms, bamboo, heliconias, and century-old trees. Of course, we won't miss the chance to learn about Panama’s medicinal and native plants.
Next, we’ll head to the Summit Municipal Park Wildlife Refuge, home to more than 300 rescued animals. We’ll have the chance to see the harpy eagle up close, the national bird of Panama, famous for its impressive wingspan and powerful gaze. We’ll also see jaguars, howler monkeys, sloths, capybaras, toucans, macaws, and other species that showcase the rich diversity of the isthmus.
We’ll also visit the butterfly house, a colorful area filled with hundreds of tropical butterflies fluttering among flowers and shrubs. There, you’ll find interactive spaces where you can learn about the region’s ecosystem.
Afterwards, you’ll have 45 minutes of free time to take photos and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Finally, we’ll head back to your hotel, where our trip will come to an end after five unforgettable hours.
